At 10.30 prompt, a record field of 33 fair weather runners started on the Annual Classic Hallam Moors Bog Trot. (35 finishers due to 2 starting at the wrong place but finishing and one (Geoff Pertex Nichols) starting and finishing at the wrong place and just going to the pub (late).
Due to the unseasonable weather, there were no recorded injuries or demonstrations of poor navigational skills to which the Sponsors have become accustomed. The clear visibility did, however, highlight a serious breach of rules when certain Competitors were seen to run on the road with blatant disregard to a last minute Sponsor\'s ruling. This disgusting practice will be investigated with further incidents resulting in a possible ban from further events (or a cash negotiable alternative).
Prizes were awarded in the pub as follows:
Andy Moore Leading light who turned up in the pub. 100 Watt bulb
Mike Arundale First Novice who turned up in the pub. 60 Watt bulb
Ken Jones Best Facial Hair and nice out and back route. U shaped tube (dud)
Mr. & Mrs. Moz First married couple. Pack of BS 1361 protective devices. (fuses)
John Myers Most stylish crossing of peat bog. 999 Calendar of Hops around Britain
Paul @s.dot.com.anorak Sponsor\'sPlug A13Amp
Note. In accordance with Cool Britannia and the Sheffield City Council Policy of non competitive sports in schools and other sporting institutions, nobody was last! Thanks as usual to all who turned up, see you next year for more of the same.
