The perfect course on the perfect day! Good temperature, cracking the flags sunshine virtually wall to wall, a cooling headwind outgoing; becoming a helpful tailwind on the return. The route takes in the two best elevated sections of the Edale Skyline, Mam Tor -Lose Hill and Grindsbrook - Hope Cross - avoiding the worst bits, and giving two challenging crossings of the Edale Valley. A Classic Course, deserving a much better name! And a good field - 220+ if you count both events. Dark & Whites organisation is impeccable, plenty of drink stops and well positioned controls.
A great win by Neil, with the legendary Ron Fawcett just far enough behind him to allow a few over the shoulder awesome glances! -

The cold start and previously wet day meant that many started wearing too much kit. It soon turned into a lovely sunny, blue-skied autumnal day- if a little chilly up the top of the hills. There were two routes on offer, a 20-mile taking in Cave Dale, Mam Tor, Hollin's Cross, Grindsbrook, east along Kinder, Hollin's Cross again, Lose Hill and back to Hope. The shorter 8-mile version cut straight to Lose Hill from Hollin's Cross.
Running conditions were perfect, Laura Daniel won the Women's 8-mile, with Rob Baker winning the mens. In the 20-mile race times were a bit more gentle. Some excellent prizes up for grabs '£60 running shoe vouchers for each class winner, and lots of wine and beer.
A quality October race, ideal as a KIMM warm up. Sorry if I've missed anyone off the results!
