Ravenstones Brow on Sat 6th May 2006
Rob Little and myself are now proud owners of hand made chutneys after the Ravenstones Brow race! The race was well organised and involved mandatory kit checks before the start for ALL competitors. There was plenty of warning that checks were going to take place yet at least one runner tried to line up without map & compass. He was very loudly and publicly criticised by the organiser and prevented from starting – a lesson worth noting. The race itself was run anticlockwise unlike previous years. The trog across the moor was dry underfoot, so not too demanding and flagged all the way. Andy Jones won very easily with Rob and myself coming in next and Charlie Adams made it 3 in the top 10 for Dark Peak (unfortunately the team prize was 1st 4 counters). Roger, Rob and myself doubled up after Mount Famine. The prizes were “interesting”. My Beetroot & Apple relish went down well with tonight’s pasta!"D.Taylor
