Quite a hard short route with steep climbs and rough descents.”, albeit there were a number of rather less enthusiastic accounts of head-high bracken as well. With younger Tom prioritising his eponymous nuptials (I had vaguely wondered whether the lure of a 5pm earlier start might have proved too much for him between ceremony and reception), there was almost a full house of bonuses. Just Chris L and Jim O missed out, going walkabout to varying degrees, the latter in the company of a hostile bee or two.
Other stand-in Nick K, Tom W and women’s champ Eloise have joined the bevvy of successful completers in the league standings; if Penny and Barry are able to join us for the final presentation night Baker’s Bike race on 14th September, that’d be a baker’s dozen of completers, with a few additional prizes on offer to those not quite making the full eight (including, we hope, at least one representative of the Walwyn clan). Looking forward to seeing many of you there and then.
