To the series organiser’s considerable delight, not only was he overtaken by one of two newbies tonight, but that newbie proved to be Hannah C, our first female series novice of the winter, joining us on her return from a day’s work in Buxton.  Welcome Hannah, and Tim too, whose presence means this is now the best attended series since 2020/21. 

Meanwhile, Tom S was back to play havoc with everybody else’s bonuses, excepting the Walwyns, father and son, who have an uncanny knack of only appearing on the same bill as Tom.  A particularly impressive run from young Jack, who showed a clean pair of heels to everyone other than Tom.  And with Martyn sitting this one out, congratulations are due to Kev, who now sits atop the league standings.  All of which said, perhaps the most unexpected participants of the night were the two horses which greeted many of us on the exit from Moscar House yard.

We’re back on the roads next week, with a first outing from Low Bradfield since 2013, or thereabouts.
