Club Championships 2025 (Dalehead)

The Dark Peak 2025 Champs event was organised by George Yates and Dominic Watts with handicapping by Felix Watts.  The route was planned as a "Dominic friendly" route, meaning not too difficult navigationally or with too many complex route choices and only about 10km with 600+ metres of ascent.  The handicapping was, as usual, contested but the results proved that it was fairly accurate with only the occasional outlier who made an interesting line choice.  The event was called DPFR Animal Farm With 5 checkpoints inspiring the name and these were Horsehill Tor, Swine's Back, (cock)Roych Clough, Cowburn Tunnel Airshaft and a Sheepfold.  Each CP was well staffed by at least 2 DPFR members who battled the tough winds, poor visibility and some rain as they helped count all the runners through.  It was fantastic to see them all arrive safely back at the start with only 3 DNFs and 47 finishers.  A huge amount of thanks to all the helpers and a congratulations to all the runners, especially Finlay Grant (Men's champion), Despina Berdeni (Women's champion and women's handicap winner) and Simon Patton (overall handicap winner).
