16 starters, Dark Peak Races League

It was a pleasingly wintry day for this Dark Peak classic. A dusting of fresh snow on the higher tops and poor visibility made for challenging navigation and there were a few “interesting” route choices. At the sharp end of the race Fin Grant retained his title but not without a close battle with Ben Davison. The race organiser and Rob Greenwood contested a slow motion “sprint” back from the dam wall, with the race organiser narrowly prevailing. Jenny Caddick and Kirsty Bryan-Jones were joint first ladies and impressively set a new F50 record in the process. Also of note was an excellent run from the evergreen V70 Roy Small. Less successfully, Jim Paxman was forced to retire after 90 seconds with a calf muscle injury which could actually be a record of some sort. (Wishing you a rapid recovery, Jim.) As always post-race analysis involved in depth discussion of route choices, heather and tussocks. See you all again in 2026.
