Nuptials and nature – 10 June 2026
What a glorious evening! The air (possibly Arctic) was clear and the views were extensive; it was claimed that even Pendle Hill could be seen. Of course, that was not our only impressive sight. Closer Read more
This years route consisted of 5 sheepfolds, both south and north of the plateau, followed by a final ascent up to Crookstone Knoll to take in the traditional descent back down to finish at Rowlee Bridge.
Given the interesting forecast there was an higher than expected turn out of 16 hardy runners. The first starters were seemingly unfazed of the weather heading off up the fell, buffeted by strong winds and horizontal snow and hail. Another group set off in pursuit about 45 minutes later and the scratch race about 15 minutes later again.
We were treated to some glorious sunshine and views as one point (briefly), but also subject to some substantial snow and freezing wind!
All returned safe and fairly well for a debrief at The Yorkshire Bridge.
A true Winter Crashout!
Thanks to all who ran.
