Margery Hill 2024 on Sat 3rd Feb 2024
23 starters, Dark Peak Races LeagueAfter last year’s unusually benign conditions the 2024 edition of this classic Dark Peak race took place on a blustery day with intermittent clag on the higher reaches of the route. This meant that the section from Wet Stones to Margery Hill featured a buffeting crosswind and there were a few navigational “issues” for some of the field (who shall remain nameless).
Fin Grant set off in a determined manner up the first climb, and stormed round to win in a time just a couple of minutes outside of the record – impressive stuff in the conditions.
Everyone else survived the arduous return leg through a diverse range of the Peak’s more challenging vegetation pretty much unscathed. Some even found it enjoyable…
