The race was run in near perfect conditions in bright evening sunshine although there was a nagging headwind at times.  The subtle stream junction at check point one proved difficult for some especially those who had not looked at their maps beforehand.  Given the shuntering afterwards you can expect to see this one again.  Not everybody knows John Field Howden, it is very much camouflaged and again tripped up the unwary.  An optimistic, or unknowing, group of five started with the “speedsters” at 6:45 and finished in the near dark at 8:30.  Congratulations to Jack and Tom for breaking the hour and Rachel being the first women home.  Perhaps the outstanding result was Greg Rimmer bringing home the V60’s in 1:12 and a bit.  Thanks to my “driver” Roy Small.
