18 starters, Dark Peak Races League18 connoisseurs of fell running participated in arguably DPFRs biggest climbing race - 1100m in 15km – making this a good training race for the start of the Lakes season. The weather was as different as it could have been from the previous weekend and the massed crowds on top of Mam Tor were treated to a topless Tom Brunt. Spurred on by the wolf whistles Tom finished in an impressive 1 hour 47 minutes nearly 20 minutes ahead of Glen in second. Impressive runs from Greg – 1st V60 and Mick - coming in under 3hrs at V75!
John Crewe ran round with his sister Ruth, who was visiting from the Highlands and she took the lady's prize. The was a tie for 2nd lady and first LV50 between Kirsty, Jenny and Helen. They also won the most words said during a fell race prize. The 1st dog guided round a visiting runner from the white peak. The path from Upper Booth to Dalehead via Highfield Farm is atrocious, and for the next running I hope to return the original route via Manor House Farm although this would miss the lovely climb from Dalehead to Lord's Seat.
