Olympic Fell race on Wed 28th Jul 2021
16 starters, Dark Peak Races LeagueIn a tightly fought duel Oli held off Pete to take the title, just outside the record but establishing a very worthy vets record. After some heavy downpours the course was slippy in parts, and the bracken seemed more dense than usual. Times were slower than the last couple of outings for some runners but Simon ran 5 minutes faster than 5 years ago(!) just missing out on the podium behind Tom. For the first time no women raced and there were nearly as many runners/spectators out of the course.
In the 4 outings of this challenging race the field has only drawn between 16 & 22 runners. However such is the excitement or awe it attracts there was talk [in the pub ] of doing it in winter when the bracken would be exchanged for snow/ice/heavy rain?
