10 starters, Dark Peak Races LeagueRO Simon Bacsich writes:
Despite potentially alternative facts about not doing the water crossing, this year´s undisputed Dark Peak cross country champion is John Pemberton. He ran fast enough on a wet course to drop just below the 40 minute mark, well ahead of the various other vet challengers. Given the conditions, it was probably best that Paul Fauset didn´t in the end attempt a mooted all terrain pram version of the race with baby daughter in tow (that would have been an intriguing category win). It was left to Mike Bourne to travel with a companion, as he had his dog.
Special mention must go to Alec Yates, who at the tender age of 13 was able to to best most of the grizzlies, including his own father. Finally let me express my thanks to Alan and Sue who undertook their last year as official course consultants, providing invaluable marking and route support over the last few years.
It may not be 40 at 40 this year, but we matched last year´s turnout so the race lives on!
