Not the National X-Country Champs on Sat 27th Feb 2016

10 starters, 40@40 League

Dave Lund sailed in comfortably ahead of the competition to become this year's undisputed Dark Peak Cross Country Champion with the second fastest time since the Nationals' 'rebirth'. Meanwhile Sarah Broadhurst is victorious as first lady. Weather conditions were favourable, a little above freezing with some sun poking out onto the valley. The runners bunched close for the first lap, but by the second were well spaced out, many not in sight of each other, and Dave extending his lead. Once again the allotments near Den Bank acted as a kind of Bermuda Triangle - or Bleaklow in miniature - seriously disorientating Penny, although she managed to avoid a DNF.

As for the course, thanks as always to Alan and Sue for assistance in marking. Methods were diverse on the day, from plastic bags to flour, although I will be reviewing my use of arrows made of wood ash - the most biodegradable, but the least visible of materials.
