JOHN EDWARDS – A short remembrance
It was with great sadness that I heard of John’s death in March. He was a distinguished “character” in the Dark Peak Fell Runners as evident by the soubriquets he was given, Gentleman John, Squire Read more
Over 31 years there have been tales a plenty in this early season winter classic, from snowdrifts/swollen streams to thick clag. Only 19 turned out which probably reflected the wind chill potential of a day that proved wet/windy.
Dave Lund frittered his ability by passing some runners twice in the High Stones area and as he spoke of following a Southern compass we can speculate where he got to on Wet Stones - but he won and in good conditions a sub 1:50 should be on.
John Boyle came in with a shoe wrapped up with laces having finished with a sole awry, but poor John B dipped out at Cogman as the sapping conditions left him very cold/underdressed.
Others came in smiling! - Adam and Mike in particular, and Graham had enough gear on to equip the whole field.
The R.O sadly made it only as far as Wet stones.
