Burbage Skyline on Tue 7th May 2013

This year another large field all left the start line exactly on time again and we must remain especially grateful for all those folk who always come forward to help, especially our web maestro and our registration, start and finish teams. Additionally we must also thank our race sponsor Accelerate, the various ground authorities for their permission and of course Edale MRT who kindly support us each year.

It was a beautiful warm clear night and near perfect conditions under foot

A close finish saw Stu Bond just beaten by clearly talented Sheffield student, Kristian Jones who runs for SHUOC

Incidentally this winning time was only 33 secs short of Phil Winskill’s course record  

Helen was again 1^st lady underlining her dominance of this event whilst as usual there were excellent Dark Peak placing’s in each category and throughout the field

We always seem to attract a really great bunch of friendly runners to this race and this year as so often previously, all present were treated to a beautiful sunset over Higger Tor. In conclusion everyone remained safe and all seemed at least, to have enjoyed the nights proceedings  

Finally it was very pleasing to note that we managed to get through well over a barrel of ale at the Fox bar, 5 full cases of Rescue Ale and about 5 kilo’s of various cakes, biscuits, pies, scotch eggs and sausage rolls. Remarkably this was in addition to completely emptying the 4 large water tanks we dragged to the finish area.

Perhaps as serious athletes we can all rejoice in this major achievement alone.
