JOHN EDWARDS – A short remembrance
It was with great sadness that I heard of John’s death in March. He was a distinguished “character” in the Dark Peak Fell Runners as evident by the soubriquets he was given, Gentleman John, Squire Read more
The falling snow put a few people off but the real men (and one woman) don’t let such things spoil a good race. As usual, several different routes were taken – not just the order of the grounds but also the routes between them. The absence of some of the usual racers meant those that did run earned some handsome points and with the remaining 2 races not favouring the straight runners, the race for the overall series positions looks interesting. Excellent pizza and Magnificent Thornbridge beer finished off a good evening.
Andy Moore – not just a pretty rear but now with a gift of the gab – wrote to William Hill about the 7 Hills Race and they duly sent us an engraved silver platter as a perpetual trophy for the winner – this was duly presented to Neil Northrop on the night for his win in the previous race.
Look out for the next race – The Tipsy Sportsman on Tuesday 12th Feb – racing with an alcoholic twist!
