Not a stampeding Water Buffalo in sight on the decent, nor stampeding Cows after the ascent - unique in the annals of Sheldon Fell Race history. What there was, was a huge stinking pile of what we first came across laid on the ground during a recent Warts run which was apparently recycled toilet paper, which meant a rapid passage throught the first field essential. Not my favourite race as my limited descending skills are certainly not warmed up before they're needed straight after the start, but the enthusiasm of the organiser and his elderly marshalling team, coupled with a great atmosphere in the pub after, means it always gets added to my calendar.
