Martin Payne suggested we should have a day out and do the Fairfield race, I'd never done it, so I decided to go. What a good decision, it was 'one of those days' in the Lakes! After the start from Rydal Hall, the route takes the track through the farm to get the benefit from the knee deep cow muck, after that, it's back to the tourist track from Nab Scar to Fairfield, then back down the other side of the valley on a brilliant descent that went on for miles where Martin & me passed each other often.
