Urban Nights Race 4 on Thu 9th Feb 2012

"The North Stand"

A brave and hardy bunch – or “stupid idiots” as one spectator pointed out – toed the ice and snow amidst sleet and hail to venture forth into the mists of urban Sheffield.  (The weather having relegated the wimps and mice to the sofa.)  Routes were wide and varied and great debate followed over fish, chips and beer about which was the best – it remains a great debate which is what makes this race so intriguing!  Little Rob eventually got knocked off his perch – having won the first 3 races in the Urban Nights series – by a great run from Neil Northrop fresh(?) from his victory the night before in the Rivelin Landmarks race.  Rob B and Oli were racing head to head for much of the way but diverged on several occasions only to meet up again and finish 2 seconds apart.  Injury and an unavoidable call of nature took out Tim and Will respectively and Roy continued his dominant ‘sweeper’ role at the back.
 
Next up – the Kelham Island Urban O Race on Thurs March 8th from the Fat Cat – real Ale and real food – don’t forget this race is pre-entry for the food afterwards!
