After the weekends epic run in the Lakes it would be nice to think of Nicky & Steve resting up on their farm in the long after glow of a job superbly done. However the forthcoming rain apparently meant that the farm & the collection of the hay had to come first and they were hard at work.
Without Nicky, eleven stalwarts lined up on a balmy evening to race direct to Pike Lowe from Midhope Reservoir. It sounds easy but the rough line on the return is difficult to pick and two people came a cropper. Perhaps after my navigational last year in the dark Sheffields finest purveyor of tyres will give me some respite after his own navigational negligence in the height of summer.
Perhaps the spirit of the race, and in deed the series, was summed up when Jim came sprinting in, with a grin from ear to ear, to the roar of all the finishers.
