24 startersI went off forgetting Jim was still out; Tom Westgate and Dave Taylor did an excellent job of waiting to see the new lads had survived. The original idea of the early start was to ensure slower runners were seen off Marjory-feeling they would then be alright. In the past there have been epic walk a bouts i.e. Alan Yates went off, somewhere after the trig - he will take the route to the grave, john Myers also went missing to turn up a good while later.
I have usually taken the view that the time-keeper would leave about 12 noon, that may need revision.

As for this years race good sport was had, with a number of runners off track, and others hanging on to route finders;my shoulders are heavy!
