Three Peaks on Sun 26th Apr 1987

Who would have guessed this was to be one of the hottest days of the year! - a far cry from the usual wet and cold course. People tell me it is often run with snow and ice underfoot - all I could think of was ice (the cream variety) in the mouth. After a fairly promising start I was quick to fall foul of the weather and retire at Ribble Head where the ice cream van was waiting! Still with plenty of running in my legs, but no desire to race on such a day, I ran off to Chapel Le Dale, Ingleborough and the finish at a leisurely jog watching a fair number of runners suffering in the heat. At least I'll know where to go next year.
Bob Toogood and Andy Harmer did well to finish in the top twenty, but the real surprise was ex-Dark Peaker Tim Daniel who finished 23rd - perhaps all the advice given to him over navigation is paying off.
