Three Peaks on Sun 30th Apr 1989

410 startersThe pace was, as usual, fairly brisk to the top of Pen-y- Ghent. The new road to the top robbed any resemblence of fell running and, with the bumps ironed out, more people were running than usual. On a fairly warm day the trough at Netherhope proved most Inviting as little water was to be had on Whernside. The long course proved testing in fast conditions and Dave Holmes, official photographer, on Ingleborough witnessed several runners with their lights out searching for the next boulder, Jim Fulton amongst them.

I made my 19th tour in the race and, although jaded on the climb to Ingleborough, survived the lack of long runs. The team was a little further back than usual but the club was ably supported by having 3 of the 4 counters being veterans.
