Cakes of Bread on Wed 25th Jul 1990

29 startersOn a rather warm evening a goodly field ambled away from Fairholmes, trespassing up the initial steep climb, led by Mike Meysner. By Lost Lad mike had dropped on myself and a group of four now took up chase. Mark Harvey finished well to open up a gap on Mike with Jonathon Cant also in close attention. A short-way back Graham Band had an excellent run with well clear of Big Bob who was a little jaded from the Wasdale (or was it the good life and weight training on the QE2).

Several newer members baptised their fell racing career by fighting off the flies and midgies as well as coping with a rough but varied course; well done to Andy Malkin and Roy Small in particular.

For many people times were exceptionally slow, down by 2 or 3 minutes, so all the records remain well and truly secure. The race is only six years old but myself and Graham are the only survivors from the original 1984 race.
