68 startersThe first of the series of three Dark and White Peak District mini-mountain marathons was based on Hayfield. It was a three hour score event using an OS 1:25000 map extract that included Lantern Pike and Chinley Churn as well as the familiar area around Kinder Reservoir.

It was well planned, with many choices of strategy. Often there are only a couple of real options at the start of a score event, but this time eight different controls were picked by at least one team as their first control. The control sites were more straightforward than on many of these type of events, all being on or next to walls or paths, but this didn\'t make it less enjoyable.
