Export resultIlam Fete on Mon 25th May 1998
For all sorts of different reasons only four Dark Peakers were in the field of 25 this year. Last year we had ten: better representation though from Staffordshire Moorlands. The absentees missed seeing an in form Alan Sealy storming to a new record of 32:44.
On a dry day, conditions underfoot were perfect, and allowed Alan to indulge in some manic descending. Up until the top of Bunster Hill Alan was being pushed all the way by David Hayes (North Derbyshire) who couldn\'t match AI on the way down. The river was quite shallow, mercifully, this year. Karen Dalton, Dark Peak, recorded 37:58 which looks set to stand for a while. No other ladies have been within 40 minutes and it\'s the fifth running of the race.
1 also organise a shorter U 16 route for the younger runners, so bring your family along. After the presentation in the fete ring, all are welcome to stay and enjoy the fete. Next year\'s race will be on Monday May 31st from Ilam village at the bottom of Dovedale. All proceeds to the village school.
