Export resultWarts' Night Race on Sun 21st Jan 2001
20 startersSince the inaugural night race in 1992, the pattern of "3 years on one course, then have a new one" seems to have developed. Indeed, this is now expected by senior wart "Harmer", and is a nice idea. This year was the first running of a new route from Dennis Knoll, which was supposed to be a surprise for those that turned up on the night, but quite a few people seemed to have some idea of where it went (?!).
The weather was unusually kind - clear and dry (I don't think anyone got really lost), but from the discussions afterwards, there is plenty of opportunity to improve on this years times, by choosing different routes between controls. Thanks to Guy Seaman for manning Stanage Pole. I didn't think anyone would finish in less than 1 hour, but 5 people proved me wrong, and the winning time to beat is an impressive 55 minutes.
In the Sportsman afterwards, the prizes went to Mick Robinson (Bill didn't come back to the pub), Dave Holmes (1st Vet), and Gavin Williams (1st back with a pathetic torch, which he was pleased to demonstrate in the pub!).
