The DPFR contingent gets larger every year for this splendid 7 mile blast round the hills above Hayfield. All who ventured over for the first time thought it would be a regular fixture in their calendars. Dark Peak had the dubious honour of leading about a dozen runners astray when a turning was missed going through the quarries. A rare win for me over 'the hairy one' was only denied in the closing stages when his frustration at his earlier 'faux path' gave him the anger and energy for a sprint finish.

When Tom had eventually finished washing in the stream, we got to the Bowling Green to find the bar clear and DPFR die hards still in the snug. A perfect race night.

Oh how I'm glad it clashes with Bradwell.
