From the start there was considerable route choice with a large group taking the Ollerbrook option. Gavin commented that from his lofty perch round the back of Ringing Roger, gained by ascending the zig-zags, that all the coughing and spluttering coming from down the valley, sounded like it was an outing of TB sufferers!
The line from Druids Stone to the descent to Blackden proved to be vital in gaining a few minutes over fellow runners. Foggy conditions over the plateau made for varied lines being followed. Gavin chose to go back round the edge path rather than take the big descent and bigger climb from the knoll to the ponds which he reckons saved him ten minutes. This third climb was certainly exhausting for the rest of us.
