27 startersI Ventured over to Errwash Reservoir, near Buxton, to have a go at 16 miles of orienteering/running. Very well organised, 27 entrants, with extra water at a couple of the checkpoints. Although the controls were straightforward, there were sufficient options between some checkpoints to make it interesting. I ran O.K. but could have improved my navigation. Better to stick to your own plan, rather than be swayed by those with "local knowledge". Well worth the trip over, and worth pencilling in for next year. Malcolm Fowler led from start to finish, with an incredibly impressive time of around 2.14 The sceptical thought the timers had transposed the "1" and the "4", but no, he was just miles quicker! I was awarded a bottle of special edition "Gritstone Tryal 2006" beer for first V40, but was actually 3rd V40 : maybe he just felt sorry for me!
