48 startersThe organisers definitely need more help with this one - start delayed 20 minutes and one of them still putting red and white tape out as the leaders zig-zagged round the fields in the opening mile, guided by a local who was just in front of me. Phil decided the opposition didn't warrant getting changed into running gear for, so pootled around with the Fat Andys for a while, then when I ran out of breath, stretched his legs and was leading when I next looked up - class. Mind you I used to do that before I had children! A great middle section to the course - Chrome Hill looks like it's been lifted straight from the Lakes (apparently) and the descent off it was one on the best. The track to the finish seemed to drag though, but there was still enough life in the ex-footballers legs to pick up 2 places in a sprint finish.
