THE THREE TOPS CAN BE VISITED IN ANY ORDER.
This is a resurrection of Ian Winterburn’s old race. Traditionally the favoured route has been Outer Edge / Margery Hill / Pike Lowe. By a reasonably sensible route this weighs in at 8.7 miles with 1300’ of ascent. The main difficulty is posed by some sections of uncompromising boggy terrain and heather and exposure to the elements (of which there has been plenty in previous editions of the race). It is strongly advised to give the notorious bog monster (182965) between Outer Edge and Margery Hill a wide berth – it can be outflanked to the west (or east).
FULL FRA RACE KIT REQUIRED AS A MINIMUM
In the event of particularly hostile weather conditions the bad weather course goes to Mickleden Pond and Pike Lowe, omitting Outer Edge and Margery Hill.
