- Event type: DPFR race
- Start point: Mortimer Road Access point
- Grid ref: 244926
- Distance: 9 kilometres

The only race that is still run by Dark Peak legend Andy Harmer, and a belter at that. Nothing says Autumn like the Hunter Wreck Race. Not recommended as an introductory Dark Peak race. See here for further info on club races.
The check points are the same as ever- Start/finish gate top of windy bank/Mortimer road [access point] SK 244926 start times suggested:
6-30 – Slow
6-45 – Medium (Social group for those interested)
7-00 – Faster start (it would be good to see more than the men’s captain and the calendar start then)
Earlier self timed start for those who would like the extra time.
CP1 new cross remains of [SK 215928]
Cp2 Hunter wreck[muddy/mossy pond—metal pole/debris] SK 209944
Cp3 Emlin trig point. SK 240934
Any route out, but on the return for the hell of it/fun the land rover track from Dukes road to Wet slack ridge is, as last year, out of bounds [210938 to 220934 ]. Suggest you go down the ‘Corridor’ route roughly passing the rocking stone/Rowen -a bearing of 110 degrees is a help!
NB – The Rowen Tree by the rocking stone has been vandalised, so may not be a useful navgiational aid.
As it will be dark by 7 pm and the course is ‘flat’? run in pairs/group unless you are happy on your own. Head torch and full FRA kit required.
Be aware, Pertex nominations have often emerged from the bogs.
