Having little better to do with my time – nor the wit to know how to get AI on the case – I’ve been manually compiling records for the Winter Mondays races going back to the first set of results recorded on Nicky’s website in 06/07 … and it’s taken some considerable time.

An individual runner’s age category for each series is determined by their age at the time of their first race in that year’s series (i.e. if you’re 59 when you run your first race, then you’re O55 throughout that series, even if you turn 60 mid-series).

There’s every possibility that there are errors, either in the original records, or in my working through them, so if you spot any please do get in touch and I’ll update as necessary.  I will also aim to update the records after each race, with records set during the current series highlighted in bold.

Somewhat unexpectedly, there are currently sixteen different individual holders of open records across the twenty-five races recorded here, set across three decades.  More unexpectedly still, father Kev (9) holds more records than son Tom (5), which means that junior Saville will need to pull his finger out; not least because young Jack Walwyn is already threatening to hoover up behind him.

Across the categories as a whole, ten runners hold ten or more records each, with the Spinks (78) comfortably out in front, followed by the impressively maturing Keith (51), Barry (49) and Simon D (27).  Somewhat further back, Jack W (13) and Sarah B (10) are swiftly cornering the market in their respective categories, whilst series old-timers Chris L (11), Sally (11) and Ellie C (10) have chalked up records across a variety of races and categories.

A special mention too for Ian W (10), all of whose records have stood for more than ten years each.  It’s most fitting however perhaps, that Keith, alongside Steve Storey, are the only people to have records set in 06/07 which still stand.  Impressive indeed.
