Tom Brunt has resurrected last year’s popular Twelve Trigs of Christmas challenge, details of which are in the calendar and elsewhere. Last year’s winner (ahem!) tramped many a lonely mile to high remote trigpoints in the Highlands and elsewhere. The star of the show however was undoubtedly Rachel Thorley who scoured the Fens and other lowland areas, found and visited a dozen low lying trigs near roads one of which was below mean sea level. Brilliant!

Canoeists and open water swimmers might consider making their way to St. Kilda. Whilst the trig’s elevation is a mere 375 metres, it is approximately 67 km from the nearest tarmacked road on North Uist and so would score a massive 25,125 points.
