The original route from KIngs tree was declared too rough and long so the Alport course was put up, only for snow melt/heavy rain put the two river crossings in doubt .
The final route was certainly a worthy substitute with a very greasy descent into the valley from the trig, and a stiff climb up to Birchin hat but the inclusion of the pond (amazingly not on some maps!) south of the tower a added a real sting in the tail as the way back was to the East of the Castles and the siren of Ditch Clough pulled Neil and later Fi and Tori to their doom.
Great race up front with a minute separating the leaders ,well done Rich for holding off Tim and lively Simon.
