Padley Skyline on Fri 1st Jan 2016

21 starters, 40@40 League

The first frosty morning of the winter caught us all by surprise and 21 competitors splodged off through freezing puddles on the revived Padley Skyline route. Dave and Jon quickly established a lead never looked like being caught. Kris and Tim were looking safe until an early right turn in Longshaw saw them taking a long route to the mysterious control 3.5. Yours truly was suffering the effects and was lucky to survive intact, even losing a shoe in a bog and struggling to retie my laces. Claire held off the evergreen Mrs Crowson for first lady. Andy pulled up after only a few yards but Emily Barnett saved the family pride by showing her mum a clean pair of heels on the way down through the woods. Back in the warm kitchen, and in the battle of the soups the chorizo, chickpea and spinach narrowly out-sold the broccoli and stilton. Dave and Claire entertained us with the details of their new years eve scrabble competition, dogs barks, kids played and adults excused their performances and made plans for 2016. Happy New Year everyone.
