A select field braved the snowy and very windy conditions to navigate their way around 6 familiar checkpoints from Rud Hill across to Rivelin Dams footbridge. Winners aside, times were very much on the slow side – not sure whether this was due to the conditions or just poor performances. Having said that, performance of the day must go to Tom Westgate, clad in festive beard and ‘Bah Humbug’ hat, sat in the Redmires plantation quarry as course marshall for over an hour, who was only correctly identified as ‘Scrooge’ by 3 runners. Still, more finished than last year when the race was called off due to gale force winds and rain.
