145 starters, Local League
The jury was out on the quality of the course. Agreed if it was half a mile shorter at the start & finish cutting out the road & flat fields it would be much better, but the rolling countryside that dominated most of the course more than made up for it. Steve's opinion differred drastically - rather like my reaction to Borrowdale, and Glen saw a tad more of the area than most of us, after a consfusingly placed arrow added half a mile to his race. He seemed to enjoy some more enjoyable scenary (Anne-Marie Jones!!) on his walkabout. The Mexican lad we took as a favour to a mate was most impressed, but thought the course was hilly, causing me to query my mate's statement he was a mountain runner and once the flat stuff was out of the way Jude dissapeared into the distance, returning with a smile on her face to collect First Lady prize of the local brew. Post Race refreshment was taken in the delightful grounds of Sutton Hall making a very enjoyable end to the day.
