111 starters, Local League
The long promised route change to take out the dreadful road climb at the start once again failed to materialise, so it remains an awful race most of it being run or tarmac, rocky bridleway or rutted field with low overhanging branches. Unfortunately Carl snatched second place from the jaws of victory after misunderstanding the local dialect of one of the marshalls. The service at the pub managed new heights of slowness - I think Austin spent more time queueing for the bar than he did running. Prize giving was a joke, with them awarding Dave Neill virtually every prize apart from first local. The only saving grace is the burgers and the convivial atmosphere outside the pub when you do eventually get served. Bring on Cracken Edge, the sooner the better!
