41 startersIn contrast to last year's several feet of snow which prevented anyone from even reaching the start, this year's event was run in near perfect conditions. It was a wonderful winter's morning to be on the fells after several days of sub zero temperatures. The speedy conditions attracted a record field though the last few miles along a frozen rutted Alport left many with sore knees, ankles and feet. The usual slow, medium and fast starts were held at 15 minute intervals. Tim Tett stormed to a record time with a solo run and almost succeeded in passing all those who had started 15 and 30 minutes ahead of him. The real racing was for second place as a pack of four battled throughout and were less than a minute apart.
