348 startersA much larger turn-out than expected resulted in a half hour delay, and for such a large field, 6.5 miles were not long enough to break it up. The usual snake and bottle-necks ensued. Changing pace, overtaking and fast downhill descents were additionally hindered as tufty ankle twisting grass tussocks enveloped the narrow paths. The course is in Wycoller Country Park (more fell than park), near to the Pennine Way on the edges of Lancashire, and with a smaller field would be a nice run. Touches of ice and mist on the top made the race more interesting. Unusually, the finish was at the top of a long very steep bank with a stile in the middle.
