17 startersWith only four non vet. men in the race, Al Sealy managed to fly the flag for the young ones. Jon Cant, on a welcome return, sped away down the last hill, whilst Mark Harvey waiting to pounce, dived into the bilberry allowing the old goat to get away. As usual there were tales told of the many variations of route from the Cakes of Bread continuing to justify this classic route\'s survival. In view of school holidays and Borrowdale, the field was seriously depleted. The race will be a week earlier next year.
