219 startersA cold windy day for a straight forward race. Last year\'s rigorous kit checks had resulted in disqualifications but this time the organisers relented. All went well until the drop off Stoodley Pike where this lad lay with a leg which wouldn\'t take any weight. If body cover ever needs to be justified this was it. Eventually we gathered warm clothes from runners who had taken a top (someone from Rochdale finished in my Dark Peak vest!) and we carried him off the hill to a waiting car.

There are implications for us all from this. If something goes wrong it takes a long time to get a runner down off the fell and warm clothing is essential. What would we do if one of us was immobile on one of our winter events such as Margery Hill.

I did finish the race successfully; last with two others!
