389 startersSimon Booth recorded his 10th win at Borrowdale and Helene Diamantides caught Christine Howard on Dalehead to win the women’s race. It was a muggy, damp day which obviously didn’t suit many folk, since 68 starters failed to finish. There was enough mist to cause a few navigational problems, with Base Brown getting visits from folk towards the front and the back of the field! A great debut from David Hakes, although judging by his demeanour at the finish it may be a while before he’s back again. Ryan ran the second half of the race with a gashed knee and arrived home via an extra checkpoint at the Northern General.
