Despite the bad weather there was a good turn out with more than 40 runners. The two checkpoints were at a big bend in the path near the top of Abbey Brook(202923), and the path junction at the bottom of the steps below the hill end west of Lost Lad (189914).
Sadly there were no spare people to act as marshall at the check points and it appears that some people didn't go to the path junction at the bottom of the steps but just turned at the Lost Lad ridge. You know who you are , so when looking at the results adjust your feelings of self satisfaction accordingly.
The winner again was Phil Winskill. He assures me that he did the proper course. He has now won this race for the last 3 or 4 years and was so confident that he didn't even bring along the trophy. Next year the course will be planned with the explicit intention to disadvantage Phil. Any suggestions? Seriously Phil, well done again.
Well done also to Alice Brockington , a newcomer to Dark Peak who was a convincing first lady.

42 startersIt was a wet, threatening night so the course was made quite short. Nevertheless it was decided to finish the race at Back Tor trig. Opinions appear divided about whether this improves or detracts from the race. Some people seem to actually enjoy the thrash down the track from the edge. Maybe next year I'll go back to finishing at Foulstone Delph to keep this masochistic minority happy.Despite the bad weather there was a good turn out with more than 40 runners.
