The FRA’s 50 at 50 series ended a year later than planned on Hogmanay with the Auld Lang Syne race up at Haworth. The leading Dark Peak Fell Runners were 6th Will Carter, 9th John Hunt, 27th Keith Holmes and 29th Alison Wainwright. The series was the brainchild of our very own James Lowe and I thought it was a great excuse to run a good number of new-to-me races. Final standings.
The 12 Trigs of Christmas competition concludes tomorrow and an unnamed party pooper has gone and spoilt things a bit at the top of the table by spending New Year in the Highlands tramping many a damp and misty mile to visit far flung Trigs. However, there is something of an unexpected dog fight going on at the bottom of the table to see who can accrue the fewest points with the full 12 Trigs. Kudos to the enterprising Rachael Thorley who has visited the Trig at Little Ouse, south of King’s Lynn, that’s 1 metre below sea level and 575 metres from the nearest metalled road and so should reduce her Trig total by 575 points!
