Upcoming events:
Monday 10th August to Sunday 16th August – Fairbrook Round. This is another new TT that visits some familiar checkpoints. There’s plenty of route choice and time spent pre-planning is likely to be well spent.
Until Thursday, 13th August – Tha Sprunce (Race 12 Route 3). This will be the final time that we run this route to the Headstone. Details of Route 4 are in the Calendar.
6th September – Crowden Horseshoe. The organisers write “Due to the Covid spike in Manchester and Oldham we have been asked to postponse the race. Our new provisional date is 6th September”. The race has a Permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA and runners will be setting off in groups of six. Past events:
Eyam & Abney TT – This was a re-running of the 2017 Club Championship race route that at least 15 of us started and 14 completed. (Chortle, chortle!) Tom Brunt won the men’s race by a wide margin and Julia Nolan didn’t need her local knowledge as she was the sole woman to complete the course. Finding the trod that contours Eyam Moor south and west from the Stone Circle was important as was knowing the best line down Bretton Clough.
Derwent TT: Race 1 –The men’s race yielded another win for Tom Brunt with Jack Foxall clear of the other sub 1 hour finishers. In the women’s race, judging by their identical race times, I suspect that Rosie Walwyn and Helen Elmore may have been busy chatting and forgot that they were supposed to be racing!
Rosie continues to lead the Women’s TT league having already completed 10 of her best-10-to-count races. Any of Helen Elmore, the undefeated Majka Kunica and Julia Nolan can wrest top spot from Rosie, but only if they get their races in. In the Men’s TT League 7 runners have already completed 10 or more races. Tom Pape currently heads the standings but is in danger of being overhauled by Ralph Skrimshire. If Tom Brunt and Glen Borrell get their 10 races in, they can also vie for the top of the league.
