Tom Brunt’s 12 Trigs of Christmas competition, which concluded last Sunday, proved to be popular taking many of us to various obscure corners of the country. Your correspondent was oh so nearly pipped at the post by Tim Rippon who would most probably have carried off the non-existent prize had he been out on the moors tagging trig points on Christmas Day instead of staying in to watch the Queen’s Christmas message. Rachael Thorley easily carried off the non-existent wooden spoon by accumulating a total of only 19 points for her 12 trigs, a well-conceived twist to a well-conceived competition.
Past events
Amble’s Revenge – Joseph Wade 9th. Results.
Moz’s Birthday Run – This, one of the club’s best races, was run in trying conditions. Tom Brunt was a wide margin winner and a mention must go to Ishmael Burdeau, for whom this was a first DPFR race. Results.
Trigger – A flake or two of snow, some drizzle, a refreshing breeze and a little mist above 400m to keep the navigation honest. What’s not to like? Woodhead MRT’s organisation was top drawer, as always. 162 runners started and 143 finished. Neil Northrop 3rd, Ben Davison 4th, Ralph Skrimshire 11th and Nathan Lawson 14th must have won the team prize. Strong runs also from Steve Adams 1st M50 and Paul Addison 1st M60. In the womens’s race Lisa Watson was 2nd behind Jasmin with Nicky Spinks 1st W50. Results.

Fiona Fullwood avoiding a head-plant at Little Crowden Brook.

Tim Rutter throwing a shape to keep his feet dry.
